Dechreuais gyda lluniad a ysbrydolwyd gan drawsdoriad coesyn coeden fach a welwyd o dan ficrosgop. Roedd y cylchoedd yn debyg i ben boncyff coeden ffawydd a adawyd yn y goedwig wrth ymyl yr oriel.

Daeth fy nhîm o wneuthurwyr at ei gilydd a chreu miloedd o betalau bach, gan eu cydosod yn raddol i goffáu’r goeden brydferth hon. Rwy’n trysori’r eiliadau hyn o lawenydd — cymuned yn dod at ei gilydd i greu un darn o gelf, yn debyg i’r cynulliadau cymunedol o genhedlaeth fy mam-gu, lle’r oedd y math hwn o wneud yn ddefod.

Mae’r boncyff wedi bod yn pydru ac yn adfywio’n araf, gan ddychwelyd i’r pridd a chwarae rôl hanfodol yn y goedwig hynafol. Mae’r gwaith hwn yn ddathliad o’r gymuned leol, wedi’i greu ar gyfer cenedlaethau’r dyfodol.

I began with a drawing inspired by the cross-section of a small tree stem viewed under a microscope. The rings resembled the top of the beech tree stump left behind in the woodland beside the gallery.

My team of makers gathered together and created thousands of small petals, assembling them gradually to commemorate this beautiful tree. I cherish these moments of joy — a community coming together to create a single artwork, much like the communal gatherings of my grandmother’s generation, where this kind of making was a ritual.

The stump has been slowly decaying and regenerating, returning to the soil and playing a vital role in the old-growth woodland. This work is a celebration of local community, made for future generations.
