Yn hanesyddol, bwyta ac yfed yw craidd y rhan fwyaf o gynulliadau cymdeithasol. Mae'r gweithgareddau hyn yn hwyluso cyfathrebu, dadlau a thrafod; mae potiau wedi bod yn ganolog i’r sgyrsiau a luniodd ein cymdeithas bresennol. Mae’r broses o danio â choed hefyd yn weithgaredd cymdeithasol sy’n dod â phobl ynghyd i gydweithio, adrodd straeon a mwynhau cwmni ei gilydd. 
Cafodd y potiau yma eu tanio mewn odyn anferth o’r enw ‘anagama’, yn Stiwdios Kigbeare lle dwi’n gweithio. Gyda phren fel yr unig ffynhonnell tanwydd, mae'r darnau yma yn arddangos potensial trawsnewidiol tân i greu effeithiau arwyneb cyfoethog ac enigmatig. Mae proses hir y tanio yn golygu bod tua chwech ohonom yn gweithio shifftiau ddydd a nos am pum diwrnod i gyrraedd tymheredd o 1300. O ganlyniad, mae'r gwaith yn wydn ac yn addas i'w ddefnyddio mewn microdon ac mewn peiriant golchi llestri. Mae'r casgliad yma o waith yn dechrau dal rhywfaint o gynhesrwydd profiad cymunedol y taniad.
Bywgraffiad
Yn wreiddiol o Ogledd Cymru, mae Elin yn grochenydd a ymunodd â stiwdios Kigbeare, Dyfnaint ym mis Medi 2024. Cyn hynny, derbyniodd grant ‘Creu’ gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru i dreulio 18 mis yn prentisio gyda’r crochenydd Simon Levin yn yr Unol Daleithiau – crochenydd sy’n arbenigo mewn tanio â choed. Dechreuodd diddordeb Elin mewn tanio â choed tra oedd hi’n astudio dramor yn Gothenburg, Sweden, fel rhan o’i gradd mewn Serameg yn Ysgol Gelf a Dylunio Caerdydd. Ers graddio yn 2019, mae hi wedi arddangos gwaith mewn nifer o arddangosfeydd yn y DU, gan gynnwys Ffair Gelf Llundain, Collect Art Fair a Circle Contemporary. Mae Elin yn canolbwyntio ar greu potiau swyddogaethol sy’n cael eu tanio â nwy neu goed.

Eating and drinking are often at the core of social gatherings and have been throughout history. These activities facilitate communication and discussion, so in various ways pots have been at the centre of the conversations that shaped our present society. The wood firing process is also a social activity that brings people together to collaborate, tell stories and delight in each other’s shared company. 
The pots on display were fired in a huge kiln called an ’anagama’ at Kigbeare Studios where I’m based. With wood as the sole source of fuel, these pieces showcase the transformational potential of fire to create rich and enigmatic surface effects. The lengthy process of this firing involves around six of us potters working in shifts day and night for five days to reach a temperature of 1300. As a result, the work is durable and microwave and dishwasher safe. This selection of work begins to capture some of the warmth of this shared communal experience. 
Biography
Originally from North Wales, Elin is a potter who joined Kigbeare studios, Devon in September 2024. Prior to this she received a Create grant from the Welsh Arts Council to spend 18 months apprenticing with wood firing potter Simon Levin in the US. Elin’s interest in wood firing began while studying abroad in Gothenburg, Sweden as part of her Ceramics degree at Cardiff School of Art and Design. Since graduating in 2019 she has shown work in multiple exhibitions in the UK including London Craft Week, Collect Art Fair and Circle Contemporary Gallery. Elin is focused on making gas and woodfired domestic ware.
