Rwyf wastad wedi cael fy nenu at weadau yn y dirwedd, ac mae fy mhaentiadau yn archwiliad o'r gwahanol arwynebau y mae natur yn eu darparu. Mae gen i ddiddordeb arbennig yn y cyferbyniad rhwng elfennau garw a llyfn byd natur, sut maen nhw'n ategu ei gilydd a'r teimladau maen nhw'n eu trwytho ynom ni.

Mae rhisgl coeden lle mae tylluan yn nythu mewn cyferbyniad â phlu meddal, llwyd yr aderyn yn bwnc y dychwelaf ato. Gan ddefnyddio haen sylfaen gesso wedi'i gosod gyda chyllell balet i gael wyneb gweadog, byddaf wedyn yn rhoi haen o inciau acrylig ac yna haen arwyneb o bastelau meddal.

Mae fy mheintiadau tirwedd yn ymgorffori techneg debyg. Mae rhai o fy nhirweddau yn dopograffigol ond mae llawer yn ennyn teimlad neu emosiwn penodol. Rwy'n defnyddio gesso, pastau gwead, olewau dŵr, pastelau meddal, inciau acrylig a chaligraffeg gan ddefnyddio amrywiaeth o frwshys, gwrthrychau a ddarganfuwyd, brigau a chyllyll paled.

I have always been drawn to textures in the landscape and my paintings are an exploration of the various surfaces nature provides.  I’m particularly interested in the contrast between the rough and smooth elements of nature, how they complement each other and the feelings they imbue in us.

The bark of a tree in which an owl is nesting in contrast to the soft downy feathers of the bird is a subject I return to.  Using a gesso base layer applied with a pallet knife to achieve a textured surface I then apply a layer of acrylic inks followed by a surface layer of soft pastels.

My landscape paintings incorporate a similar technique. Some of my landscapes are topographical but many evoke a particular feeling or emotion. I apply gesso, texture pastes, water based oils, soft pastels, acrylic and calligraphy inks using a variety of brushes, found objects, twigs and pallet knives.
