Collection: Clare Flinn

Yr hyn sy’n bwysig i Clare fel artist yw lliw, golau, gwead a marciau arwyneb, a chyfleu ymdeimlad o le i'r gwyliwr. Peintiwr tirluniau yw hi'n bennaf, sy'n cyd-fynd â'i chariad at leoedd gwylltaf Prydain. Mae ei gwaith yn esblygu mewn ymgais i symleiddio i'r elfennau hanfodol. Mae hi'n mwynhau arbrofi gyda phaent, gwthio ei derfynau a'i ddefnyddio mewn ffyrdd llai confensiynol. Ei chariad arall yw gwneud printiau, a monoprint yw'r dull mae wedi ei ddewis ar gyfer y casgliad hwn. Mae y rhwbio ymlaen ac oddiar, sgorio ac athreulio'r plât yn gyfochrog addas â gweithredu'r tywydd ar dirwedd.

Er ei bod yn dod o deulu o arlunwyr, fe gymerodd Clare tan ei 40au i ddechrau peintio,
Gan gwblhau BA Anrhydedd mewn Celfyddyd Gain yng Ngholeg Metropolitan Wirral yn 2015. Mae hi wedi gweithio fel artist ac athro ers y cyfnod hwnnw, gan arddangos ledled y DU.

Clare’s concerns as an artist are colour, light, texture and surface marks, and conveying a sense of place to the viewer. She is primarily a landscape painter, which fits with her love of the wilder places of the British Isles. Her work is evolving in a quest to simplify down to the essential elements. She enjoys experimenting with paint, pushing its limits and using it in less conventional ways. Her other love is print-making, with monoprint being the method she has chosen for this collection. The wiping on/wiping off, scoring and attrition of the plate being an apt parallel with the action of weather on landscape.

Despite being from a family of painters, it took Clare until her 40’s to take up painting, completing a BA Hons in Fine Art at Wirral Metropolitan College in 2015. She has worked as an artist and teacher since that time, exhibiting around the UK.
