Collection: Amanda Horvath
Mae Amanda Horvath yn artist sy’n cael ei dylanwadu gan goedwigoedd, morluniau a thirweddau gwyllt. Wedi ennill BA Anrhydedd (dosbarth cyntaf) mewn celfyddyd gain ym Mhrifysgol Sheffield Hallam, aeth Amanda ymlaen i ddarlithio mewn peintio, gwneud printiau a bywluniadu. Bellach yn gweithio’n llawn amser fel artist o’i stiwdio, mae ei phaentiadau’n cael eu llywio gan y byd naturiol ac ymdrochi mewn coedwigoedd. Yn enwog am eu golygfeydd o goedtiroedd, mae paentiadau Amanda yn llawn lliw, gwead a chyferbyniad. Gyda phwyslais ar effeithiau ysgafn cain a chysgodion dramatig mae'r gwaith yn mynegi naws o dawelwch cytûn.
“Wedi’u hysbrydoli gan natur, coedwigoedd a golau’r haul, mae fy mhaentiadau’n ymateb i’r dirwedd hardd ac yn ceisio dal ysbryd y wlad ac ansawdd etheraidd golau yn treiddio i lennyrch niwlog. Trwy fy ngwaith, rwy’n gobeithio cyfleu’r ymdeimlad o heddwch a llonyddwch a ganfyddaf yn y mannau tawel hyn, tra’n cyfleu y cysylltiad â natur. Rwyf wedi bod yn gyfarwydd â Phlas Glyn Y Weddw ers blynyddoedd lawer. Pan yn blentyn, ymwelais á’r Plas pan oedd yn wag a di-fywyd. Roeddwn yn chwilfrydig ac roedd dirgelwch o’i gwmpas, tŷ mewn gardd gudd, dawel, tŷ mewn cwsg, yn aros am bennod newydd yn ei hanes. Mae gennyf ymdeimlad dwfn o gysylltiad â gogledd Cymru trwy gysylltiad teuluol, roedd teulu fy nain yn Gymry. Teimlaf yn sicr fod fy ymweliadau â Llanbedrog a’r cyffiniau wedi meithrin fy affinedd â natur, sydd bellach yn amlwg yn fy mhaentiadau.”
Mae ymgolli mewn natur yn rhan bwysig o’r broses greadigol, ‘rwyf yn dechrau drwy gerdded yn y wlad gan wneud nodiadau rhagarweiniol. Mae'r rhain yn sail i'r gwaith a gyfieithir ar gynfas yn y stiwdio. Gan harneisio rhai technegau cymysgu optegol, mae'r paentiadau'n cael eu creu gyda haen ar ben haen o baent acrylig gweadog iawn, wedi'u gweithio'n fynegiannol gan ddefnyddio cyllyll palet a brwshys. Mae hyn yn arwain at baentiadau sy'n gorwedd rhywle rhwng haniaeth a realaeth.”
Mae ei gwaith wedi dod o hyd i gartrefi gyda chasglwyr preifat ledled y byd.
Amanda Horvath is a contemporary artist who is influenced by woods, seascapes and wild landscapes. Achieving a B A Hons (first class) in fine art at Sheffield Hallam University, Amanda went on to lecture in painting, printmaking and life drawing. Now working full time as an artist from her studio her paintings are informed by the natural world and forest bathing. Renowned for woodland scenes Amanda's paintings are full of colour, texture and contrast. With an emphasis on delicate light effects and dramatic shadows the work expresses a mood of harmonious calm.
“Inspired by nature, forests and sunlight, my paintings are a response to the beautiful landscape attempting to capture the spirit of the land and the ethereal quality of light filtering into misty glades. Through my work I hope to impart the sense of peace and tranquillity I find in these quiet places, whilst conveying an unspoken conversation with nature. I have been familiar with Plas Glyn Y Weddw for many years. As a child I came to the house when it was still and empty. I was inquisitive and it had a mystery about it like a house in a secret garden, quiet, a house in slumber, waiting for a new episode in its life. With a deep sense of connection to North Wales I have family history here and my grandmother's family were Welsh. I feel sure that my numerous visits to Llanbedrog and the surrounding area during my life have nurtured my affinity with nature, which is now evident in my paintings. ”
An important part of the creative process is to be absorbed in nature, so it begins with walking in the landscape making preliminary notes. These form the foundations of the work translated onto canvas in the studio. Harnessing some optical mixing techniques the paintings are created with layer upon layer of highly textured acrylic paint, worked expressively using palette knives and brushes. This results in paintings that lie somewhere between abstraction and realism.
Her work has found homes with private collectors worldwide.
