Collection: Deanne Doddington Mizen

Wedi’i lleoli ym Methesda, Gogledd Cymru, mae Deanne wedi bod yn artist proffesiynol ers dros 15 mlynedd. Yn adnabyddus am ei darluniau tirwedd tonyddol mewn olew, mae ei gwaith yn cael ei gadw mewn casgliadau preifat ledled y DU a thramor ac mae'n arddangos ledled Cymru.

Mae arddangosfa o waith Deanne yma yn y Plas o 2025, yn dwyn y teitl:

'Y Gofod Rhwng....'

Mae Y Gofod Rhwng… yn esblygu o fy arddangosfa flaenorol, Pum Milltir o Adra, a archwiliodd bigmentau a gasglwyd â llaw o fewn pellter cerdded i'm cartref. Mae'r corff newydd hwn o waith yn symud y tu hwnt i beintio i arogl, sain, cyffyrddiad a cherflunwaith, gan greu profiad sy'n tynnu sylw at yr anweledig.

Mae'r arddangosfa'n ystyried y daith rhwng eithafion; cywir a cham, perthyn a cholled, galar a llawenydd. Mae bywyd yn cael ei fyw amlaf yn y mannau liminal hyn: amwys ond yn llawn posibilrwydd, lle mae gwrthddywediad, cyfaddawd ac adnewyddu yn cydfodoli.

Mae fy ymarfer wedi'i wreiddio mewn archwiliad o amser, lle, a'n perthynas fregus â'r byd naturiol. Rwy'n myfyrio ar sut mae amser dynol yn wahanol i ddygnwch araf carreg, rhythmau pryfed, neu dwf coed, a sut mae parhaoldeb bob amser yn dros dro. Ar yr un pryd, mae fy ngwaith yn ymateb i gymhlethdod dynol: ein gwrthddywediadau a'n hysgogiadau dinistriol, ochr yn ochr â'n gallu i fod yn wydn, yn dyner ac yn ailddyfeisio.

Gan fyw yng Ngogledd Cymru, rwy'n tynnu ar hanes haenog tirwedd sydd yn wyllt ac yn ddiwydiannol, wedi'i llunio gan ffermio, coedwigaeth a chwarela. Gan weithio gyda gwlân, gwastraff llechi, a resin pinwydd, deunyddiau sy'n aml yn cael eu hanwybyddu neu eu taflu; rwy'n gwahodd cwestiynau am werth, parhaoldeb, a'r gobaith sydd yn y gofod bregus, ffrwythlon rhyngddynt.

Based in Bethesda, North Wales, Deanne has been a professional artist for over 15 years. Known best for her tonalist landscape paintings in oil, her work is held in private collections across the UK and abroad and she exhibits throughout Wales.

Deanne has an exhibition at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw from October 12 - December 24, 2025, entitled:

The Space Between....

The Space Between… evolves from my previous exhibition, Five Miles from Home, which explored hand-foraged pigments gathered within walking distance of my home. This new body of work moves beyond painting into scent, sound, touch, and sculpture, creating an experience that draws attention to the unseen.

The exhibition considers the journey between extremes; right and wrong, belonging and loss, grief and joy. Life is most often lived in these liminal spaces: ambiguous yet full of possibility, where contradiction, compromise and renewal coexist.

My practice is rooted in an exploration of time, place, and our fragile relationship with the natural world. I reflect on how human time differs from the slow endurance of stone, the rhythms of insects, or the growth of trees, and how permanence is always provisional. At the same time, my work responds to human complexity: our contradictions and destructive impulses, alongside our capacity for resilience, tenderness and reinvention.

Living in North Wales, I draw on the layered history of a landscape that is both wild and industrial, shaped by farming, forestry, and quarrying. Working with wool, slate waste, and pine resin, materials often overlooked or discarded; I invite questions about value, permanence, and the hope that lies in the fragile, fertile space between.
