Mae Rauni Higson yn un o brif ofaint arian Prydain. Gan ei bod yn hanner Ffinnaidd, manteisiodd ar y cyfle i hyfforddi yn y Ffindir, gan astudio am dair blynedd yn Sefydliad Dylunio Lahti, cyn graddio o Birmingham yn 1996 (BA Anrhydedd).
Sefydlodd ei stiwdio yn Nyffryn Nantlle yng nghanoltirwedd dramatig Eryri, yn 1997. Mae’r cefndir cyfoethog hwn o fynyddoedd serth ac arfordir garw wedi bod yn ysbrydoliaeth iddi ers hynny.

Rauni Higson is one of Britain’s leading silversmiths. Being half Finnish, she took the opportunity to train in Finland, studying for three years at Lahti Design Institute, before graduating from Birmingham in 1996 (BA Hons). She set up her studio in the dramatic landscape of Eryri, in the Nantlle valley in 1997. This rich backdrop of mountainous crags and rugged coastline has been her muse ever since.
All her pieces are made by hand and by hammer, using her contemporary interpretation of traditional skills. Developing and passing on these skills is a crucial aspect of her practice.
Much of her work is to commission from personal to public, small scale to large, including the Prince Philip Challenge Trophy for the Henley Royal Regatta and the Processional Cross and Acolyte Candlesticks for Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral. Her work is in collections including National Museum of Wales, the Victoria & Albert Museum, The Goldsmiths’ Company (6 pieces) and the Pearson Collection.
In 2025 she was awarded an MBE for services to Silversmithing and Heritage Crafts for her work in establishing new training models for passing on skills.
