Rydw i wrth fy modd yn peintio ac astudiais Gelf Lefel A yn yr ysgol, ond oherwydd pwysau gwaith a theulu ifanc, roedd hi’n 2000 erbyn imi ymaelodi mewn Cwrs ar Gelfyddyd yng Ngholeg Macclesfield (fel efrydydd hŷn)

Yn 2010 mentrais roi’r gorau if y ngyrfa mewn insiwrans a chanolbwyntio’n gyfangwbl ar beintio. Caf f’ysbrydoli gan harddwch a tirlun Gogledd Cymru. Defnyddiaf amrywiaeth o gyfryngau (acrylig, olew,
dyfrlliw ac inc) – weithiau ‘collage’. Yn aml iawn, fyddaf yn ail gylchua c ail-lunio lluniau. Mae’r ail-lunio’n rhoi her a boddhâd a golwg newydd ar y testun imi.

Rwyf yn mwynhau arbrofi ar gymysgedd o liwiau i greu teimladau haniaethol. Mae’n debyg mai’r lluniau sy’n tynnu sylw a safbwynt pobl fwyaf, - yn ôl un person maent yn “ffrwydradau o hapusrwydd”

Di Metcalfe is a full-time artist based in Poynton, Cheshire. After gaining an A level in art at school she didn't turn her attention to continuing her studies until 2004 when she attended Macclesfield College as a mature student to study Fine Art. She says that this was "definitely one of the best decisions I ever made" and concentrates her work on her local landscapes in Cheshire and of course, her beloved Llŷn Peninsula.

Di and her family have been visiting north Wales, and the Llŷn Peninsula in particular, regularly for over thirty years. In that time Di has gained an intimate knowledge of the area.

"The Llŷn Peninsula is achingly beautiful, and so full of contrasts, described in the poem 'Retirement' by R S Thomas who lived in the area for many years as 'a bough of country that is suspended between sky and sea'"
