Collection: Eluned Jones

Dwi’n peintio fel ymateb i harddwch naturiol Eryri, a rwyf wrth fy modd yn portreuadu y tirwedd fynyddog ac amaethyddol sydd ogwmpas fy nghartref yma yn Y Bala. Mae effaith y tywydd a’r awyr sydd yn newid pob chydig eiliadau wedi fy swyno, gyda cyfnodau o heulwen llachar a chysgodion pendant yn dangos ar y tir.  Ond yn ogystal a’r mynyddoedd, llynnoedd a dyffrynnoedd, mae ffiniau ‘crawiau’ llechi, ffermydd a bythynod a hen gytiau bugail yn dal fy sylw gyda eu waliau cerrig cadarna’u toeau rhydlyd, yma ohyd i ddweud eu stori.
Byddaf yn paentio mewn olew gan ddefnyddio brws, cyllell balet ac hyd yn oedd blaen bysedd ar adegau i greu lliw ac ansawdd angenrheidiol.

I paint in response to the natural beauty of Eryri, and aim to capture thecolours, light and prominent shadows witnessed in this unique landscape due to ever-changing weather. Dramatically high mountains and deep lakes provide endless inspiration, but added to this are old farmhouses, cottages, and abandoned shepherds’ huts. I am fascinated by the solidity of the stone materials that have survived over time, rusty zinc sheet roofs, and slate ‘crawiau’ fences on the land. Portraying their strength and uniqueness as a characteristic of the landscape, allowing them to live on and tell their own stories.
I paint in oils and use brushes, palette knives and even fingertips to explore textures and colour.
