Collection: Ronnie Drillsma

Mae Ronnie yn defnyddio acrylig a collage yn ei gwaith. Mae ansawdd gwaead y gwaith yn chwarae rhan bwysig gan ychwanegu diddordeb i’w phaentiadau a gwahodd i edrych yn agosach. Mae’n gorchuddio y fframwaith gyda collage papur ac yn edrych am ardal gyda cefndir haniaethol er mwyn creu y ddelwedd. Nid yw pob un o’r papurau collage yn cael eu paentio, gan adael i’r sawl sy’n edrych ar y llun weld delweddau cudd neu destun.

Tirluniau arfordirol gogledd Cymru, Môn, Iwerddon a Chernyw sy’n rhoi ysbrydoliaeth i Ronnie. Mae i’r mannau yma wead arbennig, hen gychod wedi eu gadael ar y traethau, pyllau, clogwyni, hen raffau a rhwydi pysgota. “Mae harddwch yn eu amherffeithrwydd, a dyna ble mae fy mhroses greadigol yn dechrau”.

Ronnie uses Acrylics and Collage in her work. Textural quality plays an important role, adding interest to her paintings and inviting the viewer to look a little closer. She covers the support with Collaged papers and looks for an area within this abstract background, to draw out the image.  Not all of the collaged papers are painted over, allowing the viewer to see snippets of hidden images or text she used in her under painting.

It is the coastal landscapes of North Wales, Anglesey, Ireland and Cornwall, which give Ronnie a visual connection. These places are made up of amazing textures, old boats left on the beaches, rock pools and cliff tops, frayed ropes and fishing nets. “There is beauty in their imperfections, and that’s where my creative process begins”
