Collection: Eirian Jones Muse

Bu diddordeb arbennig gan Eirian mewn tecstilau a gweadau, celf a dylunio ers yn blentyn ifanc a bu’n gweithio ym maes tecstilau am ddegawdau gyda phobl ifanc

Fe ddaeth ar draws gwehyddu helyg ar ddamwain tua 2017 pan gafodd gwrs basgedwaith fel anrheg. Ers hynny dyma fu ei hoff gyfrwng creadigol, yn tyfu helyg,  er mwyn eu gwehyddu i greu basgedwaithMynychodd gwrs basgedwaith City and Guilds er mwyn datblygu ei dealltwriaeth o dechnegau basgedwaith traddodiadol gan weithio gyda thiwtoriaid fel Clare Revera, Mandy Coates, Maggie Smith a Claire Kinsella ac Eddie Glue.

Pleithai ei gwaith dechnegau traddodiadol confensiynol â’r angen i gynhyrchu eitem unigryw sy’n ymgorffori elfennau dylunio cryf ble mae crefft yn datblygu i ddod yn ddarn o gelfMae’r gwaith yn cynnwys elfennau pendant o ffurf, gwead a phatrymau ailadroddus. Defnyddiai liwiau naturiol yr helyg fel palet, a gyferbynnir â darnau o frethyn Cymreig Melin Trefriw neu froc môr unigryw. Mae elfennau meddwlgarwch y cyfrwng yn lesmeiriol-afaelgar.

“Lle mae crefft a chelf yn cyfarfod, “

Mae wedi gweithio gyda’r Yr Orsaf, Yr Ysgwrn, Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw, Y Galeri ac wedi treulio cyfnod fel artist preswyl yn Nghernyw, ac mae’n arddangos gwaith neu’n cynnal gweithdai ar gyfer oedolion neu blant yng nghymunedau’r gogledd orllewin

-----

Eirian has been particularly interested in textiles and textures, art and design since she was a young child and has worked in the field of textiles for decades with young people.

She came across willow weaving by accident around 2017 when she received a basketry course as a gift. Since then this has been her favorite creative medium, growing willows, in order to weave them to create basketryShe attended a City and Guilds basketry course to develop her understanding of traditional basketry techniques working with tutors such as Clare Revera, Mandy Coates, Maggie Smith and Claire Kinsella and Eddie Glue.

Her work combines conventional traditional techniques with the need to produce a unique item that incorporates strong design elements where craft develops to become a piece of art.  The work contains definite elements of form, texture and repetitive patterns. She uses the natural colors of the willow as a palette, which are contrasted with pieces of Melin Trefriw's Welsh cloth or unique driftwood. The elements of the medium's thoughtfulness are captivating.

"Where craft and art meet...”

She has worked with Yr Orsaf, Yr Ysgwrn, Oriel Plas Glyn y Weddw, Y Galeri and spent a period as a resident artist in Cornwall, she exhibits work or holds workshops for adults or children in the communities of north west Wales.
