Mae Francesca Hughes Neal (ganwyd 1984) yn artist o Gymru, sy'n byw yng ngogledd Cymru, a gwblhaodd MFA mewn Celfyddyd Gain yn Ysgol Gelf Manceinion yn 2017 a BA (anrh) Celfyddyd Gain o Brifysgol Northumbria yn 2007. Mae arddangosfeydd diweddar yn cynnwys Paper Cuts 3, 50MV, Lerpwl (2025) Gwobr Baentio Wrecsam, Ysgol Gelf Wrecsam (2025) Agored 2025, Oriel Brondanw, Gwynedd (2025) Hypha Studios X The Dispensary Open, Oriel Dispensary, Wrecsam (2024) Humm Dinger, Oriel FG, Knutsford (2024) ac Y Lle Celf, Eglwys Genedlaethol Rhondda Cynon Taf (2024).

Mae fy ngwaith yn archwilio proses sy'n ymateb i baentio ei hun a'i bosibiliadau synhwyraidd.
Mae'r paentiadau'n dechrau gyda distylliad o brofiad gweledol, eiliadau cofiadwy, yr amgylchedd naturiol sy'n newid yn barhaus, teimladau corfforol, greddf. Mae deialog hir araf rhyngof fi a'r gwaith yn dechrau trwy siapiau wedi'u hail-ddychmygu, trefniadau lliw a marciau ystumiol.
O fewn y gwaith mae adleisiau o dreigl araf amser yn y byd naturiol. Mae gan bob paentiad haenau lluosog gyda lliwiau weithiau'n cael eu cymysgu ar yr wyneb mewn gwydreddau tryloyw. Mae gofod yn dod i'r amlwg wrth i mi baentio, mae rhai ardaloedd yn cael eu cuddio neu eu rhwbio'n ôl, mae'r broses hon o gael gwared a dileu yr un mor bwysig â'r mynegiadau paentiadol wrth greu paentiadau a all ddenu'r gwyliwr i mewn trwy sbarduno ymatebion canfyddiadol ac emosiynol anymwybodol.

Francesca Hughes Neal (born 1984) is a Welsh artist, living in north Wales, who completed an MFA in Fine Art at Manchester School of Art in 2017 and a BA (hons) Fine Art from Northumbria University in 2007.  Recent exhibitions include Paper Cuts 3, 50MV, Liverpool (2025) Wrexham Painting Prize, Wrexham School of Art (2025) Agored 2025, Oriel Brondanw, Gwynedd (2025) Hypha Studios X The Dispensary Open, Dispensary Gallery, Wrexham (2024) Humm Dinger, The FG Gallery, Knutsford (2024) and Y Lle Celf, Rhonda Cynon Taf National Eisteddfod (2024).  

My work explores a process that responds to painting itself and its sensorial possibilities.  
The paintings start with distillations of visual experience, remembered moments, the ever-changing natural environment, bodily sensations, instinct.  A long slow dialogue between myself and the work begins through reimagined shapes, colour arrangements and gestural marks.
Within the work there are echoes of the slow passing of time in the natural world.  Each painting has multiple layers with colours sometimes mixed on the surface in translucent glazes.  A space emerges as I paint, some areas are hidden or rubbed back, this process of removal and erasure becomes as important as the painterly expressions in creating paintings that can draw in the viewer by triggering unconscious perceptual and emotional responses.
