Wedi’i leoli yn Swydd Henffordd gyda’i deulu ifanc, ar y ffin rhwng Cymru a Lloegr, mae Matt yn creu celf ar raddfa fawr – creadau crefftus, dyfeisgar i’w harddangos yn barhaol. Mae Matt wedi gweithio yn y maes ers dros 20 mlynedd yn creu gwaith toreithiog sydd wedi arwain at dros saith deg o brosiectau dinesig wedi’u gosod ledled y DU ac yn rhyngwladol.

Mae'n gerflunydd sy'n gweithio mewn dur, copr ac efydd ac er gwaethaf natur wrthiannol y deunyddiau hyn, mae'n adnabyddus am greu cerfluniau beiddgar ond cain a gosgeiddig gyda themâu naturiol a chreaduriaid chwedlonol ar raddfa anferth.

Yn 2018, comisiynodd Plas Glyn-y-Weddw Matt i ddylunio gwaith celf y gellid ei ddefnyddio fel caffi - dyluniad a fyddai’n cyfuno celf, natur a diwylliant. Gan weithio gyda phenseiri cadwraeth Mark Wray (https://markwray.co.uk/plas-gl...) a Fold Engineering, daeth ei weledigaeth yn fyw mewn datblygiad gwerth £1.5m a agorwyd yn swyddogol ym mis Mawrth 2023.

Bydd arddangosfa unigol gyntaf Matt ym Mhlas Glyn-y-Weddw yn agor ar Hydref 12fed, 2025 a bydd yn rhedeg tan Rhagfyr 24ain.

Bydd 'Porth' yn gasgliad o 'byrth' metafforig wedi'u hysbrydoli gan y cysyniad o linellau amser cyfochrog a'r prosesau o symud rhwng bydoedd. Croestoriadau rhwng celf, ecoleg, ynni a mater. Mae Matt yn tynnu ysbrydoliaeth o'r byd naturiol, trefn fathemategol, anhrefn a chemeg i uno'n reddfol ei bortreadau o blasma, coed, strwythurau gwreiddiau, ffyngau, dŵr a gwarcheidwaid.

Based in Herefordshire with his young family, on the border between England and Wales, Matt creates Big Art – beautifully crafted, ingenious focal points for permanent display. His 20 years of prolific making have led to over seventy installed civic projects across the U.K and internationally.

He is a commissioned sculptor of steel, copper and bronze and despite these materials' resistant nature, he is known for creating bold yet delicate and graceful sculptures with natural themes and mythic creatures on a monumental scale.

In 2018, Plas Glyn-y-Weddw commissioned Matt to design a work of art that could be used as a café - a design that would combine art, nature and culture. Working with conservation architects Mark Wray (https://markwray.co.uk/plas-gl...) and Fold Engineering his vision was brought to life in a £1.5m development that was officially opened in March 2023.

Matt's first solo exhibition at Plas Glyn-y-Weddw will open on October 12th, 2025 and will run until December 24th

'Gateway' will be a collection of metaphoric ‘gateways’ inspired by the concept of parallel timelines and the processes of moving between worlds. Intersections between art, ecology, energy and matter. Matt draws inspiration from the natural world, mathematical order, chaos and chemistry to instinctively fuse together his portraits of plasma, trees, root structures, funghi, water and guardians.
