Collection: Maggie Evans

Dechreuodd taith Maggie i fyd basgedwaith pan oedd hi’n dal i weithio fel athrawes gelf ac fe fynychodd benwythnos o wehyddu helyg gyda Mandy Coates ddim yn hir ar ôl symud i Ynys Môn, Anglesey, yn 2019. Arweiniodd y profiad ffurfiannol hwn at i Maggie ddysgu gwehyddu hesg gyda Felicity Irons ychydig fisoedd yn ddiweddarach. Ers y ddau gwrs hynny, nid yw Maggie wedi rhoi’r gorau i wehyddu a dysgu.

Yn 2022 cofrestrodd Maggie ar gwrs Basgedwaith Lefel 2 City & Guilds yng Ngholeg Westhope, Swydd Amwythig. Roedd y flwyddyn honno yn drobwynt enfawr wrth ddatblygu ei sgiliau a’i hymarfer creadigol fel gwneuthurwr basgedi, ac mae hynny’n parhau hyd heddiw wrth iddi ddatblygu technegau basgedwaith mwy datblygedig ac archwilio deunyddiau naturiol.

Maggie's journey into basketry began when she was still working as an art teacher and attended a weekend of willow weaving with Mandy Coates not long after relocating to Ynys Mon, Anglesey, in 2019. This formative experience led Maggie to learn rush weaving with Felicity Irons a few months later. Since those two courses Maggie hasn't stopped weaving and learning. 

In 2022 Maggie enrolled on the Level 2 City & Guilds Basketry course at Westhope College, Shropshire. This year marked a huge turning point in developing her skills and creative practice as a basket maker which continues to today developing more advanced technical basketry techniques, and exploration of natural materials.
