Gabriella Rhodes 

Mae Gabriella Rhodes (g. 1993, Stoke-on-Trent) yn artist gweledol sy’n byw ym Mhenrhyn Llŷn. Mae ei hymarfer sy’n seiliedig ar dir a deunyddiau, yn archwilio cydblethiadau daeareg, ecoleg, a systemau gwybodaeth frodorol, gan weithio gyda chlom — cymysgedd o bridd cyfoethog mewn clai a gwellt a ddefnyddir yn draddodiadol mewn adeiladu pridd yng Nghymru — y mae hi’n ei ail-ddychmygu drwy brosesau cerfluniol cyfoes. 

Mae ei gwaith wedi’i wreiddio mewn ymgysylltiad maes parhaus ag arfordir clog-glai Pen Llŷn, lle mae erydiad a tirlithriadau yn datgelu gwaddodion sy’n weithgar yn ecolegol ac yn ddaearegol, gan gynnal cynefinoedd aml-rywogaeth tra’n cario hanesion haenedig dynol a deunyddiol. Mae’n casglu priddoedd cyfoethog mewn clai, gwellt, a phridd o ffynonellau lleol i greu ffurfiau wedi’u hadeiladu â llaw, gan ymgorffori technegau o’i hymarfer cerameg — adeiladu coil, cerfio rhyddhad, a llosgi llyfnhau — wedi’u haddasu i briodweddau strwythurol a chyffyrddol clom. 

Trwy waith maes, arsylwi, a gwneud, mae Rhodes yn haniaethu nodweddion topograffig, patrymau hindreulio, a rhythmau’r dirwedd yn ffurfiau, gweadau, a cherfiadau rhyddhad, gan ailgysylltu deunyddiau â’r systemau byw y maent yn tarddu ohonynt. Mae ei hymarfer yn trin pridd nid fel gwastraff goddefol, ond fel cydweithredwr gweithredol o fewn systemau daearegol ac ecolegol deinamig, gan archwilio trothwyon rhwng tir a môr, newid dros amser, a pherthnasau rhyng-rywogaethol. 

Ymhlith ei harddangosfeydd diweddar mae London Craft Week (2024, 2025) ac Artistiaid Ifainc Cymru yn MOMA Machynlleth. Mae wedi derbyn preswylfeydd a grantiau gan Ganolfan Ymchwil Cerameg Guldagergaard (Denmarc), A-B Projects (Los Angeles), a Chyngor Celfyddydau Cymru, ac wedi cyflwyno ei hymchwil MA yn Regenerate!, Academi Jan Van Eyck (2024). Mae Rhodes yn cwblhau MA mewn Dylunio Adfywiol yn Central Saint Martins (2026). 

Gabriella Rhodes (b. 1993, Stoke-on-Trent) is a visual artist based on the Llŷn Peninsula, North Wales. Her land and material-based practice explores the entanglements of geology, ecology, and vernacular knowledge systems, working with clom - a mixture of clay-rich earth and straw traditionally used in Welsh earth-building - which she reinterprets through contemporary sculptural processes.

Her work is grounded in sustained field engagement with the boulder-clay coastline of Pen Llŷn, where erosion and landslips expose sediments that are ecologically and geologically active, supporting interspecies habitats while carrying layered human and material histories. She gathers clay-rich soils, straw, and earth from local sources to create hand-built forms, incorporating techniques from her ceramics practice - coil building, relief carving, and burnishing - adapted to the structural and tactile qualities of clom. 

Through fieldwork, observation, and making, Rhodes abstracts topographical features, weathering patterns, and landscape rhythms into forms, textures, and relief carvings, reconnecting materials to the living systems from which they emerge. Her practice treats earth not as passive waste, but as an active collaborator within dynamic geological and ecological systems, exploring thresholds between land and sea, temporal change, and interspecies relations.

Recent exhibitions include London Craft Week (2024, 2025) and Artistiaid Ifainc Cymru at MOMA Machynlleth. She has received residencies and grants from Guldagergaard Ceramic Research Centre (Denmark), A-B Projects (Los Angeles), and the Arts Council of Wales, and presented her MA research at Regenerate!, Jan Van Eyck Academie (2024). Rhodes is completing an MA in Regenerative Design at Central Saint Martins (2026).

Benjamin Green 

Mae Benjamin Green (g. 1995, Derby) yn artist, addysgwr ac ymchwilydd sy’n byw ym Manceinion. Gan weithio gyda delwedd symudol a llonydd, mae ei ymarfer yn archwilio croestoriadau lle, topograffeg, ecoleg, hunaniaeth a naratifau cymdeithasol-wleidyddol. Mae ei waith wedi’i ddangos ledled y DU, yn ogystal ag yn Sbaen a’r Almaen. Trwy greu lleoedd yn greadigol, mae’n ceisio delweddu realiti cymhleth a gwrthgyferbyniol yn aml, tirweddau ôl-ddiwydiannol a gwledig, a’r cymunedau sy’n byw ynddynt. 

Mae gwaith ffilm Green yn eistedd yn fras o fewn dogfennaeth arbrofol ac yn defnyddio methodolegau cydweithredol radical i gyd-greu darnau ar gyfer cyd-destunau sinema ac oriel. Datblygwyd y dulliau hyn drwy gydweithrediadau hirdymor gydag ysgolion a grwpiau cymunedol. Cafodd ei ddogfen Sounds at the Edges (2021), a gomisiynwyd gan Portraits of Recovery, ei chynhyrchu ar y cyd â chyfranogwyr yn archwilio sut y gall ymarfer celfyddydol gefnogi adferiad o ddefnyddio sylweddau, a chyflwynwyd y perfformiad cyntaf gan Faer Manceinion Fwyaf, Andy Burnham. Ar hyn o bryd, mae Green yn ehangu’r ymchwil yma drwy PhD sy’n seiliedig ar ymarfer, gan ganolbwyntio ar ddulliau cydweithredol, cyd-destunau cymunedol a deinameg cymdeithasol-wleidyddol yng Ngogledd Canolbarth Lloegr. 

Yn fwyaf diweddar, mae gwaith Green wedi canolbwyntio ar ymarfer delwedd symudol analog a ffotograffiaeth, yn enwedig ar rinweddau materol amgylcheddau a sut y gall y rhain ail-leoli lle fel cydweithredwr gweithredol. Mae ei waith yng Ngogledd Canolbarth Lloegr ac ar Ben Llŷn wedi archwilio eco-brosesu (gan ddefnyddio datblygwyr cartref wedi’u gwneud o ddeunydd planhigion a mwynau a gasglwyd) a’r rhyngweithiadau corfforol rhwng deunyddiau’r dirwedd a ffilm analog, gyda’r nod o symud agweddau ar reolaeth esthetig a chreadigol oddi wrth yr ymarferydd i’r lle ei hun. 

Benjamin Green (b. 1995, Derby) is an artist, educator and researcher based in Manchester. Working with moving and still image, his practice explores the intersections of place, topography, ecology, identity and socio‑political narratives. His work has been screened and exhibited across the UK, as well as in Spain and Germany. Through creative place‑making, he seeks to visualise the complex and often contradictory realities of post‑industrial and rural landscapes, and the communities who live within them.

Green’s film work sits loosely within experimental documentary and employs radical collaborative methodologies to co‑create pieces for both cinema and gallery contexts. These approaches have been developed through long‑term collaborations with schools and community groups. His documentary Sounds at the Edges (2021), commissioned by Portraits of Recovery, was produced collaboratively with participants exploring how arts practice can support recovery from substance use, and was introduced by Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham at its premiere. Green is currently expanding this research through a practice‑based PhD, focusing on collaborative methods, community contexts and socio‑political dynamics in the North Midlands.

Most recently, Green’s work has focused on analogue moving‑image and photographic practice, particularly on the material qualities of environments and how these can reposition place as an active collaborator. His work in the North Midlands and Pen Llŷn has examined eco‑processing (using homemade developers made with gathered plant and mineral matter) and the physical interactions between landscape materials and analogue film, aiming to shift aspects of aesthetic and creative control from the practitioner to the place itself.
