Mae Lara Smith yn artist hunanddysgedig sy'n byw yng Nghaerdydd. Gan weithio'n bennaf mewn olew a defnyddio cyllell palet, mae hi'n creu paentiadau gweadog, mynegiannol sy'n archwilio awyrgylch, symudiad a golau. Mae ei defnydd o liw beiddgar a gwneud marciau deinamig yn ganolog i'w phroses, boed hi'n dal golygfa arfordirol ddramatig neu fywiogrwydd trefniant blodau.
Mae llawer o ysbrydoliaeth Lara yn dod o amser a dreulir yn nhirweddau Cymru a Chernyw, lle mae hi'n aml yn peintio en plein air. Mae'r sesiynau awyr agored hyn yn caniatáu iddi ymateb yn uniongyrchol i'r amgylchedd sy'n newid, dull y mae hi hefyd yn ei ddwyn i'r stiwdio wrth ddatblygu darnau mwy ystyriol.
Mae ei chorff o waith yn cynnwys golygfeydd môr, golygfeydd gwledig ac astudiaethau blodau - pob un wedi'i uno gan bwyslais ar egni, gwead ac ymateb emosiynol yn hytrach na realaeth fanwl gywir.

Lara Smith is a self-taught artist based in Cardiff. Working primarily in oils and using a palette knife, she creates textured, expressive paintings that explore atmosphere, movement, and light. Her use of bold colour and dynamic mark-making is central to her process, whether she’s capturing a dramatic coastal scene or the vibrancy of a floral arrangement.
Much of Lara’s inspiration comes from time spent in the Welsh and Cornish landscapes, where she often paints en plein air. These outdoor sessions allow her to respond directly to the changing environment, an approach she also brings into the studio when developing more considered pieces.
Her body of work includes seascapes, rural scenes, and floral studies — all unified by an emphasis on energy, texture, and emotional response rather than precise realism.
