Fe gafodd Sian ei magu ym Mhenrhyn Llŷn, a oedd yn fro Gymraeg yn chwdegau’r ganrif ddiwethaf. Wedi’r ysgol mynychodd gwrs Celf Sylfaen ym Mangor cyn mynd ymlaen i wneud gradd anrhydedd BA mewn Celf Gain yng Ngholeg Addysg Uwch Gwent. Cyflwynodd ei harddangosfa gradd a oedd yn gyfres o ffotograffau o feini hirion, cromlechi, bryngaerau a choed hynafol gyda dyfyniadau o farddoniath bwrpasol a cherddi ar glyw, oedd yn dilyn trywydd o anobaith i obaith drwy ddarganfod hanes ei chyndeidiau mewn olion archeoleg a deall fod yr hen hen iaith Gymraeg yn perthyn i iaith pobl y bryngaerau gyda’r cyswllt oesol wedi parhau ers canrifoedd.

Yna dychwelodd yn ôl i Lŷn i ddarlithio mewn celf a ffotograffiaeth yn y coleg ym Mangor a gweithio fel ymarferydd celf llawrydd a chynllunydd graffeg. Amlygwyd ei gwaith pan enillodd wobr Ifor Davies a Gwobr Dewis y Bobl yn Eisteddfod Genedlaethol Llanrwst yn 2019. Yn 2024 fe gafodd ei dewis i fod yn Artist Llais y Lle, sydd yn brosiect gan Gyngor Celfyddydau Cymru i hyrwyddo’r Gymraeg, drwy ddulliau creadigol yng nghymunedau Cymru. Mae Sian yn falch iawn o’r cyfle i fod yn un o artistiaid y prosiect Llais y Lle ac meddai ‘mae’r prosiect yn profi fod yna werth i gelf weledol a chreadigrwydd pobl o bod cefndir wrth hyrwyddo gwerth y Gymraeg.’

Sian grew up in Penrhyn Llŷn, which was a Welsh-speaking area in the sixties of the last century. After school she attended a Foundation Art course in Bangor before going on to do a BA honors degree in Fine Art at Gwent College of Higher Education. She presented her degree exhibition which was a series of photographs of long stones, cromlechs, hill forts and ancient trees with excerpts from purposeful poetry and poems by ear, which followed a path from despair to hope by discovering the history of her ancestors in archeological remains and understanding that the ancient Welsh language belongs to the language of the people of the hill forts with the age-old link having continued for centuries.

She then returned to Pen Llŷn to lecture in art and photography at the college in Bangor and work as a freelance art practitioner and graphic designer. Her work was highlighted when she won the Ifor Davies award and the People's Choice Award at the Llanrwst National Eisteddfod in 2019. In 2024 she was chosen to be a Voice of the Place Artist, which is a project by the Arts Council of Wales to promote the Welsh language, through creative means in the communities of Wales. Sian is very proud of the opportunity to be one of the artists of the Llais y Lle project and says 'the project proves that there is value to visual art and the creativity of people from a background in promoting the value of the Welsh language.'
