Collection: Jeremy Stiff

Roeddwn i'n byw yn Llundain ac yn gweithio fel saer coed yn fy ugeiniau a dechrau fy nhridegau, ac yng nghanol fy nhridegau cymerwyd fy mywyd drosodd gan ddiddordeb newydd mewn celf. Astudiais gerflunwaith ffigurol yn Stafford a symudais i Gymru ym 1997 ac rwyf wedi byw yma ers hynny. Cefais radd MA mewn celf yn UWIC yn 2007.
Dechreuodd y gweithiau sydd yn yr arddangosfa hon yng ngwanwyn 2025 o dan y thema Ensemble, a ddewiswyd ar gyfer arddangosfa ar y cyd â fy ngwraig. Roedd fy arbrofion cychwynnol yn drefniadau gofodol minimalaidd iawn o ddarnau o bren a esblygodd wedyn yn undebau cysylltiedig wedi'u hadeiladu gan ddefnyddio dur a phren.
Mae'r tri gwaith hyn, Kiss, Posit a Beacon, yn gosod y deunyddiau naturiol a dyn-wneuthuredig hyn gyda'i gilydd; i mi mae'r broses o wneud fel chwilio am ymdeimlad o gydbwysedd a barddoniaeth. Datblygodd y gweithiau hyn o brosesau gwneud ac arbrofi gyda phosibiliadau esthetig y deunyddiau eu hunain.

I lived in London and worked as a carpenter in my twenties and early thirties, and in my mid-thirties a renewed fascination in art took over my life. I studied figurative sculpture in Stafford and moved to Wales in 1997 and have lived here since, I gained an MA in art at UWIC in 2007.
These works started in the spring of 2025 under the theme of Ensemble, which was chosen for a joint exhibition with my wife. My initial experiments were very minimal spatial arrangements of pieces of wood which then evolved into constructed joined unions using steel and wood.
These three works, Kiss, Posit and Beacon, position these natural and manmade materials together; for me the process of making is like searching for a sense of balance and poetry. These works developed from the processes of making and experimenting with the aesthetic possibilities of the materials themselves.
