Collection: Lou Moore
Rwy'n peintio oherwydd mae'n rhaid i mi, mae wedi bod ynof erioed. Mae pob paentiad yn darlunio lleoliad go iawn yr wyf wedi dod ar ei draws yn ystod fy nheithiau cerdded mewn mannau gwyllt. Yn ôl yn fy stiwdio, mae pob pwnc yn araf droi’n drosiad aml-haenog o agwedd o’m bywyd – atgof, ffrind, profiad … y corff o waith yn ei gyfanrwydd, fy nyddiadur.
Wrth gofnodi fy nghariad at y dirwedd, a’r coed yr ydym yn ei rhannu gyda nhw yn arbennig – gan ddefnyddio iaith dawel, lliw a gwead – fy nod yw gwneud cysylltiad â’r gwyliwr trwy gynrychioliad gonest fy emosiynau amrwd fy hun. Cydnabyddiaeth o'r teimladau a'r profiadau sy'n gyffredin i bob bod dynol sy'n byw ar y blaned anfesuradwy o hardd, ond cynyddol fregus hon.
Pan gefais wahoddiad i greu’r arddangosfa hon, daeth llawer o ysbrydoliaeth o’r coetir hardd yma ym Mhlas Glyn y Weddw, lleoedd eraill yn agos at fy nghartref yn Nyffryn Dyfi a thu hwnt. Roedd cael fy nghyflwyno i Christine Evans yn fonws ychwanegol sydd wedi blodeuo i gyfeillgarwch. Bu’n bleser adlewyrchu’n greadigol y cariad sydd gan y ddwy ohonom at fyd natur, gan arwain at y llyfr sy’n cyd-fynd â’r arddangosfa.
I paint because I have to, it has always been in me. Each painting depicts a real location that I have encountered during my walks in wild places. Back in my studio, each subject slowly becomes a multi-layered metaphor for an aspect of my life - a memory, a friend, an experience … the body of work as a whole, my diary.
By recording my love of the landscape, and the trees that we share it with in particular - using the silent language of colour and texture - my aim is to make a connection with the viewer through the honest representation of my own raw emotions. An acknowledgement of the feelings and experiences common to all humans that live on this immeasurably beautiful, but increasingly fragile planet.
When invited to create this exhibition, I drew much inspiration from the beautiful woodland here at Plas Glyn y Weddw, other places close to my home in the Dovey Valley and beyond. Being introduced to Christine Evans was an added bonus that has blossomed into friendship. It has been a joy to creatively reflect our mutual love of the natural world back and forth, resulting in the book that accompanies the exhibition.
