Syrffiwr, tad, aelod o griw RNLI, gwneuthurwr delweddau a darlunydd, Jonty Storey yw Cyfarwyddwr Creadigol stiwdio ddylunio ef a’i wraig ym Mhen Llŷn. Mae’n byw ar lan y môr yn Llanbedrog, Gogledd Cymru gyda'i deulu.

Datblygodd angerdd Jonty tuag at y môr o dreulio gwyliau yng ngogledd Cymru pan yn blentyn.

Wrth dyfu i fyny yng nghefn gwlad Swydd Gaer,  dihangfa Jonty oedd treiddio i mewn i gylchgronau sglefrio ei frawd hŷn a fideos VHS - cael cipolwg ar fyd a oedd yn ei ddiddori. Roedd y diwylliant rhyfedd a bohemaidd hyn o syrffio a sglefrio’r 80au a’r 90au, filiwn o filltiroedd i ffwrdd o’i fagwraeth yn y wlad a byddent yn ddiweddarach yn dod yn ddylanwad enfawr yn ei yrfa a’i gyfeiriad fel artist.

Ar ôl gorffen yn y coleg celf yn Northwich a cholli’r lleoliad prifysgol o’i ddewis, treuliodd Jonty aeafau yn eirafyrddio yn yr Alpau a Rockies Canada, a hafau'n siglo o gwmpas y môr yng Nghymru. Dechreuodd gynhyrchu dyluniadau print-t a phamffledi ar gyfer cwmnïau syrffio lleol, ynghyd â phosteri ar gyfer gwyliau cerdd, a datblygodd ei sgiliau artistig. Arweiniodd hyn yn ei dro i weithio’n bennaf yn y diwydiant antur gyda rhai o’r brandiau syrffio rhyngwladol mwyaf.

Yn ddiweddar mae Jonty wedi defnyddio ei sgiliau darlunio digidol i symud ymlaen a chymhwyso i bapur a chynfas. Mae’n arbrofi gyda collage, paent, pasteli a phensiliau i greu golygfeydd arfordirol bywiog.

Surfer, Dad, RNLI crew member, image maker and illustrator, Jonty Storey is Creative Director at husband and wife run design studio, Cardigan. Living by the sea in Llanbedrog, North Wales with his wife, two kids & a lazy Border Terrier.   

Jonty’s link and calling to the sea go back to his childhood caravan holidays by the coast. Spending summers holidaying in North Wales, and eventually working in the local surf shops led him to a passion and borderline obsession with being in and on the ocean.   

Growing up in rural Cheshire, Jonty’s escape was delving into his older brother's skate mags and VHS videos, glimpses of a world that intrigued him. These early insights into a strange and bohemian culture of 80’s and 90’s surf and skate, were a million miles away from his country upbringing and would later become a huge influence in his career and direction as an artist.   

After finishing art college in Northwich and missing out on the university placement he wanted, Jonty flicked between winters snowboarding in the Alps and Canadian Rockies, and summers bobbing about in the sea in Wales. Eventually finding himself producing t-print designs and brochures for local surf companies, along with posters for music festivals. Jonty’s self taught design skills developed and progressed, while his passion for the outdoor lifestyle led him to work mainly in the adventure industry with some of the biggest international surf brands.  Recently Jonty has taken what he has learnt illustrating digitally and started applying it to paper and canvas. Experimenting with collage, paint, pastels and pencils to create vibrant coastal scenes.    

Inspired from old nautical folk art, seaside nostalgia and surf counter culture, Jonty loves to play with the juxtaposition of rural coast life and the rebellious, anti establishment surf and skate scene. A discreet nod towards the past, while keeping things looking forward with modern and bold colour palettes.
