Collection: Karen Pearce

Mae Karen Pearce wedi ei lleoli yn Aberystwyth ac wedi arddangos yn eang yng Nghymru a Lloegr ers 1987. Derbyniodd ei hyfforddiant celf ffurfiol ym Mhrifysgol Aberystwyth gan raddio yn 1998 gyda BA (anrh dosbarth 1af) a derbyniodd MA mewn Celfyddyd Gain yn 2003.

Mae’n gweithio ar ei harddangosfeydd a chomisiynau preifat yn ei stiwdio uwchben tref Aberystwyth gan weithio fel tiwtor yng Nghanolfan y Celfyddydau Aberystwyth a gweithio gyda grwpiau celf cymunedol amrywiol.

“Edefyn cyffredin sy'n rhedeg trwy fy ngwaith yw ffocws ar y golau a'i effaith ar y dirwedd. Byddaf yn aml yn peintio “en plein air” er pleser, oherwydd mae lle arbennig yn fy ysbrydoli, ac fel mae’n fan cychwyn ar gyfer cynfasau stiwdio mwy mewn acrylig.”

Datblygir paentiadau eraill gyda chyfryngau gwahanol - dyfrlliw neu gouache, pasteli, inc neu acrylig, wedi'u cyfuno â gweadau ac arwynebau amrywiol. Mae pob un yn dathlu ymdeimlad o le, cariad at yr elfennau, a diddordeb parhaus ym mhotensial mynegiannol paent. Mae ganddi hefyd ddiddordeb byw yn y modd y mae tirwedd yn cysylltu â phrofiad - y cysylltiadau sydd gennym â rhai lleoedd, neu ymdeimlad sy'n cael eu ysgogi gan amodau golau ac atmosffer. Mae’n ceisio cyfleu trwy baent y teimlad o fod yn rhywle arbennig.

Karen Pearce is an Aberystwyth based painter and has exhibited widely in Wales and England since 1987. She undertook formal art training at Aberystwyth University, graduating in 1998 with a BA (1st class hons) followed by an MA in Fine Art in 2003.

She works for exhibitions and private commissions in her studio above Aberystwyth town and shares her painting skills as a tutor for Aberystwyth Arts Centre and various community art groups.

“A common thread that runs through my work is a focus on the light and its effect on the landscape. I often paint “en plein air“ for the pleasure of it, because a particular place inspires me, and as a starting point for larger studio canvasses in acrylic.”

Other paintings are developed with different media – watercolour or gouache, pastels, ink or acrylic, combined with various textures and surfaces. All celebrate a sense of place, a love of the elements, and an abiding fascination with the expressive potential of paint. She is forever interested in how landscape links to experience- the associations we hold with certain places, or moods that are evoked with light and atmospheric conditions. She tries to convey through paint the sensation of being there.
