Collection: Meic Watts & Bill Swann

Mae Bill Swann a Meic Watts yn cyflwyno gwaith sydd wedi ei greu trwy gydweithio fel rhan o’r sioe haf eleni.

Yn dilyn gyrfa mewn rheolaeth crochenwaith a chysylltiadau cyhoeddus, fe ddychwelodd Bill Swann i’r Brifysgol i gwblhau cwrs MA Anrhydedd mewn dylunio gan arbenigo mewn gwydr. Cydredodd arddangosfa o’i waith gyda agoriad y National Glass Museum yn Sunderland. Mae Bill wedi arddangos ei waith yn yr Iseldiroedd, Yr Almaen a Siapan. Mae’n gweithio o’i stiwdio ym Mhothmadog.

Bu Meic Watts yn ddigon ffodus if od yn brentis i’r cerflunydd Jonah Jones wedi gadael coleg celf. Cyflwynodd Jonah ef i’r grefft o dorri llythyrennau a cherfio llechi lleol gogledd Cymru a mathau eraill o gerrig. Roedd Meic wedi gweithio ar gomisiynau celf cyhoeddus ac fel artist preswyl am nifer o flynyddoedd.

Bill Swann and Meic Watts are presenting collaborative work as part of this year’s summer show.

Following a career in management ceramics and PR Bill returned to university to complete a MA in Glass Design. An exhibition of Bill’s work was featured to coincide with the opening of the National Glass Museum in Sunderland.

Bill has exhibited throughout the UK and in Holland, Germany and New York and Japan, Public commissions include glass etched screen for Pwllheli Town Hall and glass panels in Gabolfan Hamdden Porthmadog and the National Writers Centre for Wales in Llanystumdwy. Bill carries out public and private commissions in glass for both internal and external environments and works from his studio in Porthmadog.

Meic was fortunate in being an apprentice to the sculptor Jonah Jones after leaving art college. Jonah introduced him to letter cutting and carving in the local slates of north Wales and various other stones. Meic has worked on public art commissions and residencies for many years.
