Mae Rachel Barber yn arlunydd sy'n byw yn Swydd Gaer yng ngogledd orllewin Lloegr. Ar hyn o bryd mae hi'n gweithio trwy gyfrwng argraffu mono a sgrin, gan ddefnyddio manylion dail metel wedi'u gorffen â llaw. Mae hi'n cael ei hysbrydoli gan natur, tir a morluniau ac mae hi bob amser yn ceisio dal rhywbeth o'r awyrgylch y mae'n dod ar ei draws wrth gerdded ym mryniau'r Peak District neu ar hyd traethau Penrhyn Llŷn. Mae hi hefyd yn tynnu llawer o ysbrydoliaeth wrth deithio, yn ddiweddar i Ganada a Gwlad yr Iâ, creu haenau a gweadau i adlewyrchu golau, symudiad a ffurf.

Mae'r broses gyfredol yn gofyn am roi inc ar blât yna ei rolio, ei grafu a'i sychu a'i drin. Yna rhoddir papur dros y plât a'i basio trwy'r wasg argraffu. Gyda'r broses o argraffu mono mae pob print yn unigryw ac mae yna elfen na ellir ei rheoli, a all ddatgelu canlyniadau annisgwyl rhyfeddol, sydd wedyn yn cael ei weithio i'r ddelwedd derfynol. Mae haenau o ddelweddau wedi'u hargraffu ar y sgrin yn cael eu gosod dros y ddeilen fetel sydd wedi'i chymhwyso â llaw cyn iddi o'r diwedd luniadu manylder i'r printiau gyda llaw.

Rachel Barber is an artist living in Cheshire in the north west of England. She is currently working in the medium of mono and screen printing, using hand finished metal leaf and hand drawn detail. She is inspired by nature, land and seascapes and is constantly trying to capture something of the atmosphere that she encounters when walking in the hills of the Peak District or along the beaches of the Llŷn Peninsula. She also draws much inspiration when travelling, recently to Canada and Iceland. create layers and textures to reflect light, movement, and form.

The current process requires applying ink to a plate then rolling, scraping, and wiping and manipulating it. Paper is then put over the plate and passed through the printing press. With the process of mono printing each print is unique and there is an element that cannot be controlled, which can reveal wonderful unexpected results, which is then worked into the final image. Layers of screen-printed images are placed over the hand applied metal leaf before she finally draws into the prints to give line and detail.
