Mae Dychweliad y Frenhines yn gerflun a gerfiwyd o’r ffawydden a syrthiodd mewn storm, coeden sydd ers amser maith yn hysbys mewn llên gwerin fel brenhines y coed. Gan weithio gydag un slab mawr, lluniais ffurf sy’n atgoffa o faen hir, gan gyfeirio at henebion sy’n anrhydeddu tir, amser a chof. Mae’r tri marc cwpan a chylch yn adleisio traddodiadau cerfio cynhanesyddol, gan weithredu fel symbolau tawel o barhad, defod, a pharch at y byd naturiol.

Drwy roi presenoldeb monolithig i’r goeden a syrthiodd, roeddwn am ei dychwelyd i safle o urddas a grym yn hytrach nag o golled. Mae’r gwaith yn dal hanes y goeden o fewn ei gwead, gan gofnodi blynyddoedd o dyfiant, tywydd a goroesiad. Mae’r darn hwn yn weithred o adnewyddu ac yn deyrnged i wydnwch, trawsnewid, a thirwedd fyw.

Return of the Queen is a sculpture carved from the storm-fallen beech, a tree long known in folklore as the queen of the woods. Working with a single large slab, I shaped the form reminiscent of a standing stone, referencing ancient monuments that honour land, time, and memory. The three cup and ring marks echo prehistoric carving traditions, acting as quiet symbols of continuity, ritual, and reverence for the natural world.

By giving the fallen tree a monolithic presence, I wanted to return it to a position of dignity and power rather than loss. The work holds the history of the tree within its grain, recording years of growth, weather, and survival. This piece is both an act of renewal and a tribute to endurance, transformation, and living landscape.
