Basged Gnau Ffawydd / Beech nut basket

Mae’r fasged fawr anghymesur hon wedi’i hysbrydoli gan gnau ffawydd unigryw sydd â thair ochr. Fel arfer dwy ochr sydd i’r math yma o fasged. Mae brig y fasged wedi’i orffen gan ddefnyddio tri darn o’r goeden ffawydd, wedi’u dewis am eu tyfiannau clymog (burrs) a’u rhisgl nodweddiadol.
Rwyf wedi gwehyddu’r fasged gan ddefnyddio helyg a dyfwyd yn lleol a thair techneg wehyddu draddodiadol wahanol.

This large asymmetric basket is inspired by the unique 3-sided beech nut. Typically this type of basket is 2-sided.  The top of the basket is finished using 3 pieces of the Beech tree, selected for their characterful burrs and bark. 

I have woven the basket using locally grown willow and three different traditional weaves – a wale, an English rand and reverse rand.
