‘Y rhyfel o dan y goeden / The battle beneath the tree’ (23.03.25 - 05.05.25)

“Rwyf yn artist 24ain oed o Bwllheli. Bûm yn astudio darlunio ym Mhrifysgol Cumbria (Carlisle,) am dair blynedd gan raddio yng ngaeaf 2023. Yn ystod y cyfnod hwn, datblygais obsesiwn â phaentio olew a chwblhau dros gant o ddarnau o waith a ysbrydolwyd gan syniadau am y natur ddynol, hanes cylchol, yr oesoedd canol a’m cysylltiad â Chymru. 
Mae’r casgliad newydd hwn o weithiau celf yn adlewyrchu y ffordd o fyw y mae cymaint ohonom yn ei arwain. Ar doriad pob gwawr, er nad ydym yn rhyfela yn swyddogol, deffrown yn ddwfn o fewn y ffosydd. Er mai anaml y mae gennym y llygaid a'r ewyllys i'w gweled, yr ydym yn ymladd mewn brwydr sydd wedi cynddeiriogi yn ddi-baid o fewn ein meddyliau a'n heneidiau er dyddiau boreuaf y byd, ac ymddengys nad oes iddi ddiwedd yn y golwg. Nid oes noddfa i'w chael trwy gladdu ein hunain yn agennau'r oes a fu a'r dyfodol, ond trwy argyhoeddi ein hunain fod hanes ar ei derfyn, fe'n denwyd i wyrth o gysur. Dim ond yng nghanol yr ymladd hwn, unwaith y bydd y rhith wedi'i dorri, y bydd rhywun yn gallu sylweddoli eu hunain, y frwydr wirioneddol dros eu dynoliaeth, a darganfod eu bod yn dal yn fyw ar ymyl gwaedlyd rhywbeth na fyddant byth yn gallu ei ddirnad yn llwyr.”

“I am a 24-year-old artist from Pwllheli. For three years I studied illustration in the University of Cumbria (Carlisle,) graduating in the winter of 2023. During this time, I developed an obsession with oil painting and completed over a hundred pieces of work inspired by ideas of human nature, cyclical history, medievalism and my connection with Wales. 
This new collection of artworks reflects on the way of life that so many of us are leading. At the break of every dawn, although we are not officially at war, we awaken deep within the trenches. Though we rarely have the eyes or the will to see it, we are fighting in a battle which has raged ceaselessly within our minds and souls since the early days of the world, and it seems to have no end in sight. There is no sanctuary to be found by burying ourselves in the crevices of the past and future, but by convincing ourselves that history was at its end, we were lured into a mirage of comfort. It is only in the midst of this combat, once the illusion has been broken, that one is able to realise themselves, the true battle for their humanity, and find that they are still alive on the bleeding edge of something that they will never be able to entirely fathom.”
