Her studies in Visual \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003eArt\/Art History at University Wales Aberystwyth (1982) laid the foundations of her interest in socio-cultural frameworks whilst further training at Birmingham’s Diploma Art Therapy (M.A. equivalent) informed the correspondence in her work between the material world and psychological states of being. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003e\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003eUntil 2020 she combined a career as an artist with work as an NHS art psychotherapist, and remains committed to inclusive practices and community engagement. These are some of the most Westerly native beechwoods in the UK and formerly a source of charcoal that fueled the early Industrial Revolution. This led to the beechwoods being ravaged by successive industrial activities and associated systems including ironworks, limestone quarries and kilns, electricity pylons, tramway,  railway, micro-hydro installation and dual carriageway. \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eBeech Wood Pieces (1) is a multi-functional, multi-sensory object. A stand-alone sculptural piece, when worn it surrounds the wearer in the smoky scent of the charcoal and delicate chimes of the pieces as they collide.
