Under the tuition of Alison Mercer and Iwan Parry, she explored life drawing with embroidery techniques to mimic the fine line drawing that she was drawn to. At Manchester School of Art she developed her skills further, studying a BA(Hons) in Embroidery. In 2011 Lydia was introduced to spoon carving by Jo Alexander, a well-respected green wood worker. This has allowed the wood to flex and warp during the drying process and resulted in a beautiful wavy plank.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003e\u003cspan lang=\"EN-US\"\u003eViewing the plank, I immediately saw a shoreline in the colours and grain of the wood.
