Early experiences of open fields, weather, movement, and the quiet presence of animals continue to shape her paintings of horses, hares, and coastal scenes.
She studied Fine Art at the University of Glyndŵr in North Wales, a pivotal stage in her creative development, and has since continued to evolve her practice independently while exhibiting in local galleries. She currently works from Stiwdio Gwennel at Parc Glynllifon, where she shares a studio within a vibrant creative community.
Working primarily in acrylic, Gwen is drawn to the materiality and sensuality of paint. She often begins outdoors, recording fleeting emotions and gestural marks in her sketchbooks, before developing these impressions into layered, atmospheric paintings on prepared canvases. Her work is shaped by memory, nostalgia, and dreamlike recollections of landscape, with horses and seascapes rendered in a calm, fluid palette.
“My work explores the places where sea, land, and living creatures blur into memory. Through soft, atmospheric colour and fluid brushwork, I capture tides, weather, and movement as sensations rather than strict representation. Each piece becomes a quiet portal into the wild, coastal moments that stay with us long after we’ve left the shore.”

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0357/3858/3084/collections/GO.AwdlauRhyddidArfordirol-EchoesofCoastalFreedom300dpi.jpg?v=1777387144
